For Inktober, I designed sixteen custom Magic the Gathering tokens to refine a new illustration style — retro-futurist cartooning with bright colors, layered linework, and hidden puns.

The faerie token wears boots and smokes a joint (a nod to Fairies Wear Boots), the goblin embraces “goblin mode,” and the food token references the dubious cuisine from Zelda. These tokens became conversation starters, earned engagement online, and even got used in playtesting sessions with friends — proving that even whimsical, pun-laden designs can find a practical tabletop home.
