The Challenge

Develop a distinct illustration style while working within the constraints of small-format game pieces that need to read clearly during play.

Approach

Built each token around a clear concept, combining recognizable archetypes with humor-driven details and references.

Used bright color, strong silhouettes, and layered linework to maintain clarity at small sizes while rewarding closer inspection with visual jokes and subtle nods.

The Result

Produced a cohesive series of tokens that function both as playable game pieces and character-driven illustrations. The designs generated strong engagement online and were used in playtesting, demonstrating their effectiveness in a tabletop setting.
